Description that becomes a new perspective - is a description enough to provide insights?

In my research, I tend to be very descriptive, sometimes too much for a journal paper’s structure. I found a rich description of an observation, a method or a social dynamic, a useful way to analyse, critique and learn how the object of our research is from our perspective. A research paper should be polished, short, to the point, and in other words, minimal. However, when I find an article that gives enough space for a description or even starts by describing a moment, a person or a place, I always find it inspiring. To do that, the authors might have renounced space for the text of other reflections. So, I find it itself a form of rebellion and reclaiming the right to write how we feel more appropriate, despite the risk of rejection or major reviews.
